NESN’s Sophia Jurksztowicz is taking a vacation

Sophia Jurksztowicz is taking a temporary leave from her role as studio host of NESN’s “Bruins” to focus on personal matters.

Jurksztowicz, who was absent from NESN’s preseason broadcasts, explained her status on her Instagram account on Tuesday, directing a post to “my favorite nation (Bruins nation)”:

“This summer I signed a contract extension with NESN and I couldn’t be happier to continue my journey as your Bruins host,” she wrote.

“But for personal reasons I have to postpone the start of the season with NESN and the team. I don’t want anyone to worry, I’ll be fine, but right now I just need to take some time off from work.

“I have received nothing but support from NESN in my situation and I truly could not be more grateful to work at NESN or more grateful for the love of my teammates.

“It’s only preseason, but I already miss being at the rink and I’ll miss interacting with all of you too. You are the best fans in the world and you are my second home. I can’t wait to be back. In the meantime, I’m always cheering.”

Jurksztowicz joined NESN in August 2019 from Sportsnet in Toronto, where she served as a reporter, anchor and producer.

She was also a social media reporter for Hockey Night in Canada and worked at theScore, Rogers Sportsnet and CBC News Network in Canada.

In a statement, a NESN spokesperson said, “The NESN team wishes Sophia well during this time and looks forward to having her back on the Bruins broadcasts when she is ready to return.” In the meantime, we ask everyone “To respect Sophia’s privacy.”

Adam Pellerin will be the NESN host for the Bruins in Jurksztowicz’s absence.

The Bruins open the season on October 8th on the road against the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
