The complex decisions were crucial to the outcome of World War II and the course of history.

Summersby served as chauffeur and later as personal secretary to General Eisenhower, Supreme Allied Commander (and later U.S. President). Olivier Award winner David Haig and Maras wrote the screenplay based on Haig’s critically acclaimed play, which explores the personal and military pressures faced by Stagg and the growing tensions between the teams due to differing weather forecasts for the planned D-Day. The official synopsis reads: “In the 72 hours before D-Day, everything is in place except one key element – the British weather. British Chief Weather Officer James Stagg is called upon to deliver the most consequential weather forecast ever, putting him in a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership. The wrong conditions could scupper the greatest seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence finding out. With only his loyal aide, Captain Kay Summersby, to trust, and plagued by a disastrous D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower. With just hours left, the fate of the war and the lives of millions are at stake.”
