John Daly appears in Adam Sandler’s Netflix sequel

The title character in the upcoming Netflix sequel directed by Adam Sandler Have fun with Gilmore 2 won’t be the only person on screen known for letting their emotions get the best of them at times.

Spoke to professional golfer John Daly OutKick’s Mike Gunzelman for a recent social media post, revealing that he has filmed a role in Have fun with Gilmore 2. Director Kyle Newacheck’s golf comedy began filming on September 9th in New Jersey.

When asked if Sandler had been contacted about a role in the film, Daly replied: “I’ve already filmed. We can do it.” He then made a silencing gesture to the camera so that viewers could keep the news private.

Like Sandler’s character Happy Gilmore, Daly is known for his long car rides and colorful behavior. Daly, a two-time major champion nicknamed “Long John” for his powerful swings, has been banned from the PGA Tour multiple times and got into a fight with a spectator during an incident on the golf course in 1994. Daly’s personal life also made headlines, as the athlete spoke openly about his problems with alcoholism and excessive gambling.

In May, Sandler appeared in the Dan Patrick Showwhere the actor shared that his longtime writing partner Tim Herlihy, who worked on the Have fun with Gilmore 2 Scripted with Sandler, Daly had recently met at a golf tournament. Sandler noted that Daly entertained Herlihy with memorable stories.

When asked if Daly would appear in the film, Sandler said at the time: “I’d like to think so. You never know, but I love him. I’ve always loved him.” Sandler also noted that he would like to see Tiger Woods in the film too.

Daly isn’t the only celebrity athlete set to appear in this film Have fun with Gilmore 2with Sandler previously revealing that Travis Kelce will make a cameo. Margaret Qualley, Bad Bunny and Benny Safdie are among the cast of the sequel, with Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen reprising their roles from director Dennis Dugan’s original Happy Gilmore which was released in 1996 by Universal Pictures.
