By educating and raising awareness about energy consumption, energy specialists help customers find ways to save energy and money through more efficient energy consumption. Customers receive a free energy saving kit, a personalized consumption report, cost-effective tips and expert recommendations to help them save energy.

The new eligible customers include renters of single-family homes as well as owners/renters of condominiums, townhouses and prefabricated homes.

“We are excited to improve the accessibility of our Home Energy House Call program to reach more customers in Indiana,” said Stan PinegarPresident of Duke Energy Indiana. “It’s a great way for customers to get personalized recommendations and insights that help them save energy each month and ultimately save money on their energy bills.”

New reviews include:

  • Virtual: Customers can use their mobile phone camera to take a virtual tour of their home and receive a free consultation with a professional energy consultant.

  • Telephone: An energy consultant carries out an energy assessment over the phone and answers all of the customer’s questions.

  • Online: Get a self-directed energy assessment.

During the virtual and telephone assessment, an energy specialist analyzes the customer’s total energy consumption at home and checks the efficiency of their appliances and heating/cooling systems. The self-directed online assessment generates individual savings recommendations based on the customer’s responses.

Based on the information collected, Duke Energy experts prepare a personalized report for customers with detailed steps to increase energy efficiency and reduce their energy costs.

Along with the free assessment report, customers receive an energy saving kit in the mail that includes bathroom vents, weather stripping, water heater pipe insulation, and a furnace filter pipe that can be installed by themselves for immediate savings.

The Home Energy House Call program is offered to Duke Energy customers in single-family homes, condos, townhomes or manufactured homes that have an electric water heater, electric heat or central air conditioning.
